It's the question every new student asks, and the honest answer is: the schedule you can repeat. Here's how to think about training frequency at every stage.
Beginners: two classes per week
Two sessions give your body time to recover while building momentum. At this rate, technique becomes familiar within weeks and conditioning climbs steadily. One class a week maintains interest; two build skill.
Intermediate: three to four
Once fundamentals are in place, a third class dramatically accelerates progress, and mixes well: alternate All Levels classes with bag classes for volume, or add a conditioning session.
Advanced: five or more, with recovery planned
Advanced students and competitors train daily, rotating technical sessions, hard pad rounds, sparring, and rest. Recovery becomes training: sleep, nutrition, and deload weeks are scheduled, not hoped for.
- Consistency beats intensity: two forever beats five for a month
- Soreness is normal; sharp pain is not: talk to your coach
- Pair hard days with easy days
- Sleep is when the skill settles
